We are buying 75 shares of Procter & Gamble at roughly $148. Following Tuesday’s trade, Jim Cramer’s Charitable Trust will own 325 shares of PG, increasing its weighting to about 1.3% from about 1%. We’re making our second buy in household product giant P & G. We initiated this position last week. Procter & Gamble is the company behind several household names, including Tide, Crest, and Gillette. Consumer staples have been out of favor throughout 2025. It’s the worst-performing sector year to date, as its low single-digit growth cannot compete with the fast-moving AI trade. However, part of our thesis for adding P & G to the portfolio is based on the possibility of money moving out of high-flying technology stocks and into more profitable, economically resistant companies like Procter. If there is a slowdown in AI spending or in the broader economy, investors will rotate into a defensive stock like P & G, which doesn’t need a booming environment to make its numbers. Witness Tuesday the rotation out of technology and into groups like health care and staples. PG YTD mountain Procter & Gamble YTD As we pointed out in our initiation, Procter & Gamble has one of the strongest growth track records in its category. The company’s most recent earnings report marked the 40th consecutive quarter of organic sales growth, which kept the business on track for its 10th straight year of core earnings per share growth. At current stock prices, P & G has a nice annual dividend yield of nearly 3%. And it is also part of the S & P 500 Dividend Aristocrats index of companies that have increased their dividends every year for the last 25 consecutive years.
